Font choices and placement was key to creating something pleasing for the customer’s ad to draw attention! Color Theory: Color is very important in all print. It will either confuse or draw you in! Visual Material: I have never had to do any PowerPoint presentations in my work history. I have however had to take a PowerPoint presentation and take items from it to recreate the art for print, or pull items off of PowerPoint for print use, or print the slides for the customer. Image Manipulation: I have had to deal with this aspect many times. In order to cut cost for my employers or to cut corners, pulling clip art or any type of media into the different programs will offer resolution to manipulating art. When a customer is looking far a particular color and recoloring the artwork is necessary. Changing the format of the type of file. Pulling the typed copy from a finished piece to save time. Image manipulation is a time savor or resource management to get the results you need. Objective I worked at a small-town newspaper for 18 years. I have great knowledge of the workings of the entire paper. From the Editorial department, which puts together two regular weekly papers to the Production Department, which puts together five weekly shoppers. I have a great adaptability to the issues at hand. I have become one of the two people with enough knowledge of the entire working process that I am the “go-to” person when they have issues. Troubleshooting is something I can do very well. There I learned the importance of deadlines. I learned how to use InDesign on my own and troubleshooting was the key to learning. I have a customer service background and sales, although, sales is not where I think I have much strength. I also have some management background. There is a great deal of independence in the areas I have worked. I have enjoyed my jobs very much over the years. The people that I have worked with have been an amazing part of my “coming-of-age” through my expertise. I know large format and several output forms. I have done decals, banners, stickers, labels, variable data, envelopes, calendars, 300+ page books. I have an imagination to create the impossible! I made the mistake of leaving a job I loved, with a company that needed me. I miss designing! It's what I do best!
