Gentiva Hospice is looking for individuals who want to spend time with hospice patients sharing any gift, skill, talent, or passion you have. You decide how many hours you want to volunteer. You decide how far from where you live to drive. You decide when you are available. We are flexible and can work with your busy schedule. Typically volunteers will volunteer three times a month for one hour each time, but some do more. Our patients are located in nursing homes, memory care centers, as well as houses and condos. You can decide where you want to volunteer. Hang out with one patient and read out loud, watch TV/movie, play games together, sing, pray, complete word searches, play guitar, sit and talk, or whatever your talent is!
Gentiva Hospice is also a part of We Honor Veterans and places veteran volunteers with veteran hospice patients. We also pin our veteran hospice patients in a bedside ceremony where we thank the veteran for his/her service, do some readings, give a certificate and place a pin on the patient's clothing. These pinnings are meaningful and deeply appreciated by our veteran patients.
We have patients all over the Chicagoland area and you can choose how far you want to drive to see your hospice patient. Training provided. Must be able to pass drug screen, background check, and fingerprinting.
