Would you like to own building relationships with Copperleaf’s target market and influencing decision making towards utilizing Copperleaf? Do you have the business savvy, the technical insight, and the background necessary to open doors and to help further establish Copperleaf as the leader in Asset and Investment Management Planning? As the Business Development Lead within Copperleaf, you will have the exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build market share and broad use of Copperleaf’s suite of products within our target markets. The ideal candidate will possess both a business background that enables them to open doors, drive an engagement and interact at the CxO/VP level, as well as a technical background that enables them to easily interact with director and manager levels. He/she should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions and work cross-organizationally to build consensus. A keen sense of ownership, drive, and scrappiness is a must. Responsibilities The primary responsibility of the Business Development Lead is to build and lead a team who can penetrate the core and emerging markets by building awareness of Copperleaf’s unique approach and technology, and by helping the sales team develop opportunities in marquee accounts in North America. This is not an SDR job, you will be responsible for meeting with and building out key prospect relationships, setting strategic direction of initial meetings and developing a winning account strategy. Roles & Responsibilities • Build and lead the Business Development team and their contribution to drive overall Copperleaf market and technical strategy • Drive a high-performance sales culture • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to a rapidly growing Business Development sales team • Develop a business plan and demand generation with the VP of Sales and Marketing • Work with Sales leadership to identify prospects within our core and emerging markets • Execute the strategic business development plan while working with key internal stakeholders (e.g. sales teams, partners, marketing, support, etc.) • Drive the development of new opportunities and drive measurable sales cycle progression! This is the ultimate measure of success in this role • Manage collaborative handoff to sales team • Experience with a broad array of demand generation technologies including SalesForce & Marketo • Prepare and give business reviews to the senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks to establishing new Copperleaf opportunities • Participate in industry events with speaking opportunities • Become involved in the most relevant industry associations, driving the understanding and knowledge of AIPM in the segment • Work with marketing to plan and execute ABM campaigns that support your business development activities Keys to Success To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will: • Track record of leading a positive, successful sales culture with a focus on team success • Strategic thinker who can see the big picture and the tactical path to get there • Possess strong interpersonal skills to build strong and trusting relationships with new prospects, existing clients, and influential people in our core markets • Build credibility and solid working relationships with product development, sales, marketing, and Copperleaf’s leadership team • Be a compelling communicator, able to represent the unique value that Copperleaf’s solutions provide to clients in terms that resonate with this community • Be a fast learner, open to new ideas, and able to participate in healthy constructive debates • Be completely focused on the success of our customers • Be deeply interested in how customers use Copperleaf’s technology to solve business problems and make better investment decisions • Have a talent for solving problems, by bringing customers and/or partners together with functional teams within the company • Have a passion for recognizing opportunities to develop functionality that will address new customer problems and enhance the value of Copperleaf’s solutions • Be comfortable with ambiguity as the market and Copperleaf’s solutions evolve • Be a good negotiator with the highest ethical standards • Be willing to spend over 50% of their time traveling The successful candidate must: • 3+ years of experience in sales management/leadership • Have 3-5 years of over-achievement in a complex sales environment • Demonstrated ability to open doors and build pipeline in enterprise accounts • Demonstrated execution of a repeatable and successful sales process • Have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills • Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish relationships with key influencers in Copperleaf’s target markets
