Here’s the scoop:
The Data Engineer will be responsible for data capture, data conversion and data quality management.
What you’ll do:
Write Node.JS and Python code to capture, parse and load data into our database. Parsing accuracy is a priority. Data analysis and maintenance/repair work are key components in this role. Our data is our product. We collect data from thousands of government agencies, and managing the quality of this data will be a key responsibility.
Develop and communicate implementation approaches for assigned projects, as required. In addition, this role will regularly and proactively communicate status and other issues related to maintaining accurate data.
Other job duties as assigned to meet the business needs.
What you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science or similar strongly preferred. Proven work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Minimum 5 years development experience.
Minimum 2 years in each of Node.JS and Python.
Good understanding of HTTP protocol and REST architecture.
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Professional written and verbal skills.
Self-motivated; have the ability to work autonomously, make decisions and learn quickly.
Ability to problem-solve.
Strong desire to learn and enhance skill set.
Customer-focused with strong attention to detail.
Knowledge of some or all of the following: MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Kibana
Experience writing scrapers.
General accounting knowledge or any business knowledge of the government procurement industry is a plus.
Working knowledge of SQL, document databases, key-value store and queueing systems.
