The Dept of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) is seeks an innovative solution architect to develop and implement systems architecture that will meet business needs.
Sr Solutions Engineer CAREER OPPORTUNITY
The Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL), a well-respected government agency that is responsible for meeting the child care and early education needs of Georgia's children and their families. It administers the nationally recognized Georgia's Pre-K Program, licenses child care centers and home-based child care, administers Georgia Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS) program, federal nutrition programs, and manages Quality Rated, Georgia's community powered child care rating system.
The department also houses the Head Start State Collaboration Office, distributes federal funding to enhance the quality and availability of child care, and works collaboratively with Georgia child care resource and referral agencies and organizations throughout the state to enhance early care and education.
DECAL seeks an experienced Senior Solutions Engineer. We are looking for a technically well-rounded innovative engineer to design and implement both IT and Customer Services that will meet business needs. The solution engineer’s responsibilities include gathering requirements and functional specifications, assessing the current Service portfolios in place to identify areas in need of improvement and implement new services from concept to completion.
To be successful as a Sr. Solutions Engineer , you should be able to integrate any updated specifications and requirements into the current systems architecture. An outstanding Sr Solutions Engineer should be able to explain complex problems to management in layman’s terms.
Sr. Solutions Engineer JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Research, design, document, and implement new technologies and tools used within the organization.
Building and integrating information systems to meet business requirements.
Assessing the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it.
Resolving technical problems as they arise – Top level support
Providing guidance and support to other IT teams.
Continually researching current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed or find solutions to meet business requirements.
Informing various stakeholders about any problems with the current technical solutions being implemented.
Assess, Analyze, and document requirements and the business impact that certain technical choices have.
Creating design documents, processes, workflows that support technology systems and business requirements
Account for possible project challenges on constraints including, risks, time, resources, and scope
Work closely with project management teams to successfully monitor progress of initiatives
Define clear goals for all aspects of a project and manage their proper execution
Drive the technical aspects of projects from conception to completion.
Sr. Solutions Engineer REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Project management and leadership skills are essential
Experience developing/implementing/integrating IT, SaaS Applications, and cloud infrastructure
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or relative work experience.
Current understanding of best practices regarding technical system security measures (WAF, Email, Application, Windows OS, Firewalls, AV/FW/IDS/IPS, DLP, etc)
Experience in software engineering, design architecture, and systems integrations
Positive outlook in meeting challenges and working to a high level
Advanced understanding of business analysis techniques and processes
Excellent skills in using Visio or other tools to design, document, and deliver
Knowledge and experience working with operating systems, networking protocols (SMTP, TCP, IP, HTTP/S, SFTP, SSH, TLS/SSL, etc..), and security controls (RBAC, ACL, Zero Trust/Least privilege, JIT, PIM, FW, IDS/IPS, AV, ATP, SIEM, privilege escalation, etc)
Design and Implementation experience with databases, Microsoft IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services, and other SaaS solutions (ServiceNow, Document Management, Data Bricks, Salesforce, Power Bi, Tableau)Microsoft Windows SCCM Patch Management, Intune Administration, Laptop Imaging and Security Certification Process including hands-on.
Strong organizational and leadership skills coupled with effective communication skills
Must have current 5-7 years’ experience as a Senior Solutions Engineer experience
