I’m a very dependent, responsible, determined, and ambitious individual. I’m skilled at leading others, but I also know how to follow because as Haile Selassie (former emperor of Ethiopia) once voiced, “In order to lead, you must first learn how to follow.” I’m always ready and eager to learn! I’m also always ready to take on more and to do more when it comes to a job/task that I have to complete; I’m highly flexible and able to multi-task. From the age of fourteen years old and into my adulthood, I’ve worked with toddlers, adolescents, teens, and adults! Thus, I have excellent interpersonal skills! As a psychology major and a sociology minor, I understand others on a deeper level because I’m able to be both sympathetic and empathetic. My understanding of how others feel and think, helps me to be great at interacting with them because I understand where they are coming from! As an individual who has a lot of experience working a lot, I know how to conduct myself professionally. My manners are consistent with core service values such as resiliency, excellence, and diversity. As a Haitian American and as an individual who speaks three languages (Haitian-Creole, English, and French), I know and understand diversity because I live and breathe it. Aside from being a determined individual, I’m also resilient. I always strive for more and I don’t stop until I’ve reached my end goal. I’ve always believed in pushing myself to accomplish more and to push myself outside of my comfort zone because it’s through the hardships that I go through and the experiences that I gather, that I become a stronger and more resilient individual.
Lastly, as I think about my career and what it means to be successful, I believe that success is about building relationships and being able to work with different people. It’s important to make connections in order for any relationship to build and grow. In the future, I look forward to working in environments that would invest in my growth!
