BECC was formed in 2021 to support development of Biosphere Eco-Cities (BECs) in Canada. BECs use simple themes and tools to engage people in sustainability. There are currently initiatives in five cities – Ottawa (since 2009) and Toronto, Brampton, Edmonton, and Vancouver (the last four since 2021). The Fundraising Coordinator will assist the BECC secretariat and Board to obtain funding for BECC staff, and for both national (BECC) and BEC city projects. This will include the following: - Research of granting and funding opportunities - Drafting of funding proposals - Review and advice on said proposals - Connecting with funders formally or informally i.e. sending Letters of Intent - Building a Donor or Membership base National project funding will be sought and administered by BECC. Where possible, BECC will assist BEC cities to find funding for their projects over the next year. Partnerships with other organizations may figure into both types of project fundraising. In the longer term, the Fundraising Coordinator would work with the secretariat to draft a fundraising strategy for board review. This person could also liaise with the HR Coordinator and Web Team Leader on implementation of that strategy. And advice to BEC cities on fundraising for staff could be needed then too.
