We are a Not-for-profit community interest company working with members of Eastern European (and beyond) communities, providing guidance, information and language support on legal and general matters. We are looking for a volunteer who can commit a minimum of 3 hours per week.
Candidates with an interest in law will be able to support and shadow real-life cases alongside our senior members of the office. These volunteers will be able to have first-hand experience in dealing with domestic abuse cases and other matrimonial, immigration, and general matters. The company may also offer first-hand experience in attending open hearings for and outside the cases we deal with.
On the job training provided with daily briefings on specialist topics, any changes to rules or laws and ongoing media update. Supervision is given by any specialist caseworker or the management ring of the company. We individual supervision can be face face to face or digital via on-call online platforms.
Our volunteers who deal with casework or clients are never left on their own to deal with instructions. Volunteers who take on administrative tasks, however, would be expected to work off the detailed written instructions following a preliminary detailed verbal briefing.
Good communication skills and ability to work in the team
Good IT skills (reasonable understanding of email, cloud and sharing platforms) as well as knowledge and experience of working with variety of Microsoft Office software. (Word, pdf, excel, etc)
General and basic training will be provided on demand.
Work as part of the team on individual tasks is prevailing and considered more beneficial.
