Catania Metro system design

For the project of Tesi, of the two-year course in Graphic Design, I designed the entire signage system of the Metro of Catania. This project was born after a long study and research concerning the graphic design of the most important metro systems in the world. I dedicated the entire project to the memory of the designers Bob Noorda (who designed the signage system of the Milan, New York and Sao Paulo subways) and Massimo Vignelli (who realized the signage system of the Washington DC subway and together with Noorda the one in New York). The project included the realization of the brand, totems, wayfinding, uniforms, tickets and part of the interiors. I used a color system based on the colors that most represent the city, red and blue. The system involves the integration of the Aganè font and the Aganè Icons, originally designed to be used exclusively in this project.
