Precision BIM Modeling for Heathrow Airport

Tesla Outsourcing Services successfully executed a Scan to BIM project for Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3, covering 1,70,887 sq. ft. across three floors. Using Revit and achieving 15 mm accuracy, the team delivered a detailed LOD 300 BIM model encompassing architectural, structural, and MEP elements. The model focused on the gate areas, capturing complex geometries such as curved roofs, glass facades, and intricate ceiling structures. MEP systems included HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and fire safety. Key challenges involved modeling complex architecture, integrating essential building systems, and ensuring safety compliance. The final deliverables were fully coordinated BIM files that support future renovation, maintenance, and operational planning, enabling efficient facility management at one of the world’s busiest international airports.
