The innovative trail via the Jiri route got sunshine status when Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Sherpa successfully summitted Mt. Everest in the early 50s; however, after Sir Edmund witnessed upfront what the local folks had to suffer in this region, the Hillary Trust built an airport at Lukla to ease the sufferings of the sherpa people and today most backpackers prefer to fly in for the famous EBC trek, but there are those that still go for the old well known Jiri trails that go through a humid belt of villages and diverse landscapes that offers more of nature to enjoy as you head down to Namche. It’s a subject of your choice where your trip can now begin with a 30 minute flight before you blaze the trails to glory.
