Job Description
A Hardware Design specialist is someone who has the product design knowledge combined with
engineering acumen and has a deep level of knowledge of hardware industry set practices, standards
and products.
A Design Specialist’s goal is to help launch suitable hardware products that helps to drive sustainable
growth, as such, responsibilities may include:
● Initiate and own market research, obtaining buy-in from relevant stakeholders producing
creative and original specifications for best-in-class customer centric products
● New Product Development:Design and develop new products
● Able to read and convert ideas into readable industrial production format such as production
drawings and bid specifications for production in all categories of Hardwares
● Has a patent in design of a hardware product.
● Having in-depth knowledge in ANSI hardware – Mechanical
● Develop detailed architectural hardware specifications
● Industry Standards and Practices across different geographies and ergonomics
● Knowledge and understanding on the various codes and compliances with the Hardware
related products
● Hardware Schedule (EN/ANSI standards) and specifications (NBS/CSI format)
● Has a deep understanding of Architectural /Kitchen Hardware which includes
○ Metal, metal finishes and plastics
○ Hinges
○ Door closing Devices
○ Locks & latches
○ Fixing & Fastening
○ Drawer System
○ Telescopic Channels

● Proficient in Documentation & Softwares
Qualifications:
● 10-15 years of experience in Furniture & Kitchen Hardware Industry
● Architectural / Engineering / Industrial product Design degree or equivalent level of
experience
● Diploma GAI - Guild of Architectural Ironmongers
● Able to read and understand architectural drawing packages and bid specifications including
door and hardware schedules
● Familiar with structural and environmental (reflected ceilings, lighting, sprinklers, and HVAC)
building systems
● Knowledge of ADA (American Disabilities Act) guidelines as applies to building design
● Familiar with the Construction Industry and product terminologies.
