Sharks and Minnows This game may appear infantile, but it can be a lot of funny fun for all ages and in practically any setting, whether you're teaching in a gym, on a court, or in a field. Have one student stand in the middle of the play area as the shark. The remaining pupils are the fish, and they should all line up side by side at one end of the space. "Shark, shark, may we cross your ocean," all the fish call in unison. Each kid sprints to the opposite side of the play area when the shark says, "Go, minnows, go," hoping to avoid getting "eaten" (tagged) by the shark. A runner who is tagged joins the original shark as a second shark and assists it in tagging other fish if the runner is tagged. When only one minnow is left, the round or game is over. Crazy Laps It's occasionally required to do laps around a quarter- or eighth-mile track, but it doesn't always have to be monotonous. Introduce Strange Laps, where students run each lap in a unique (and wacky!) fashion, to make it more enjoyable and fascinating for them to complete laps. Students can run the first lap to music, the second lap in reverse, and the third lap as slowly as they can. They can run a lap while navigating cones, another while holding hands with a partner, and yet another while hopping over mini-hurdles (like bean bags or any other little object that won't trip them up). Another fantastic strategy for keeping students interested is to let them come up with their own Wacky Laps. https://flagle.onl
