I am a software engineer! I’ve had quite the road to get here, from working in the military and private security, to working as a bank teller, and accounts receivable clerc. Along the way, I’ve learned a variety of skills such as attention to detail, multitasking, and collaboration. That being said, coding has always been my dream, and App Academy has facilitated that for me.
Since March 2020, I’ve been polishing my skills with ruby, ruby on rails, javascript, react, redux, and Mongo, all using the git workflow. I even completed a full stack clone of Task Rabbit in about 2 weeks. The clone, Quest Rabbit, uses ruby and rails for the backend, postgres SQL for the database, and for the front end javascript and react/redux. More recently, I worked with a great team to create our own site Take a Hike, which took about a week, and it's a site where clients can find trails to hike on, leave reviews about trails, see what they might need for a specific trail and so on and so forth. It also uses javascript and react/redux redux for the front end, but the backend is javascript because we used mongoDB for the database.
