My name is Claudia Bille Stræde, I’m a Copenhagen based film director and freelance illustrator. I often find myself working in a field between animation and documentary, but dabble in creative media in general, etc. I recently worked in the games industry and also dipped my toe in the virtual reality pool. I worked as an editor on two of Makropol’s VR productions, editing for a virtual experience. As co-editor on “End of Night” and also trailer editor on the same project, which won the Venice Film Festival 2021, and as editor on “The Shadow”, a project that’s still in production.

I worked as an animation director for a large scale American documentary production for HBO, as a co-director of the animated sequences in the series. I can’t yet disclose the name of the series.

Tactile Games

I worked at Tactile as the game director of their main franchise “Lily’s Garden”, the work consisted of leading a big team of writers, animators and artists to deliver a finished episode each week. I worked in close collaboration with a team of writers to create a consistent story arc and a cast of interesting characters, to heighten the quality of the storytelling in the game.

I directed the animated sequences for the danish documentary “Cold Case Hammarskjöld”, by documentary director Mads Brügger. The film went on to win Sundance in 2018.

Third Ear, podcast

I worked in collaboration with the danish podcast Third Ear on a cross media project that spanned two seasons of their podcast. The project was a story told on multiple platforms - podcast episodes, animated episodes and a live element. I directed the animated episodes and worked closely with the podcast team to develop the overall visual style of the project, including posters and websites.

I worked for a number of years as one of the organizers behind the danish award show Ping Prisen, which honors comic books and graphic novels in Denmark and abroad. Besides the organizing of the event, I was behind the promotional videos and the yearly poster for the event. It was volunteer work, but nevertheless thought me a lot about organizing big projects.

I worked as an illustrator for the online education publisher Clio Online. My work consisted of illustrating different school subjects for different grades, illustrating kids stories, making small animated videos. I worked closely with authors and editors to create a visual universe that suited the overall style of the portal, the need of the specific subject and the age group of the kids.
