About
The Benicia Tree Foundation is an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit organization established in 2010 and serving residents and businesses of Benicia, California. The foundation is governed by a five-member Board of Directors and is registered on Guidestar.org. Since 2010, we have planted 834 trees that will sequester 18,000 metric tons of CO2 during their lifetime. The Foundation has projects on every public school campus in the city, which represent half of the trees we have planted. In 2019, over 27% of our volunteers have been under 18 years of age. In 2019, we attracted 259 individuals to 20 events where they learned how to plant the right tree in the right place, how to maintain trees, and the benefits trees provide to the community. These events generated nearly 1000 volunteer hours in 2019.
