I'm a freelance journalists, writer, translator and communication for development consultant. I'd love to collaborate in media projects, translation, audiovisual translation projects and any combination of the above. My past professional experience includes being a Community Radio Consultant for UNICEF; a Journalism Trainer for Media and Democracy Group; a Producer, Journalist, Translator and Anchor for Radio Canada International; and a Project Coordinator for the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC).

Independent Journalist, Translator and Writer
I have been an independent translator and writer on an off. Most recently, I co-authored and translated from Spanish to English the children's book "We are the Soil". The book won 6th, place out of 86 participants, at an FAO children's book contest. (Please see file "We are the soil" in Portfolio.) Im presents shifting my focus to audiovisual translation. I have included some samples of my work in my Portfolio.
Some of my previous work as writer/translator includes:
Translating news bulletins and radio scripts from French and English into Spanish and from Spanish into English, as part of my responsibilities at Radio Canada International/CBC (Montreal, QC. Canada)
Creating and translating communication materials in English, French and Spanish. These included electronic and printed bulletins, Website content, communiqués, etc. as part of my responsibilities as project coordinator for the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (Montreal, QC. Canada)
Translating official documents, project descriptions, proposals and evaluations (French, English and Spanish) for Canadian international development organizations, including CIDE (Consortium for International Development in Education) AGRITEAM Canada, and Development and Peace (Montreal, QC. Canada)
As UNICEF consultant I facilitated and drafted the National Strategy for the Implementation of Community Radio Installation, Broadcast and Operations Policy in Bangladesh. The Strategy was was later implemented by the Ministry of Information of The People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

My work there included:
Compiling and analyzing data and drafting the annual Reports on Results, Latin America and Caribbean projects, submitted to the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development of Canada (Formerly Canadian International Development Agency, CIDA);
Coordinating and drafting the Organization’s 2006 Annual Report;
Preparing projects’ summaries in English and Spanish.

I facilitated group discussions and workshops leading to the development of a comprehensive Strategy and Action Plan for the establishment of community radios in Bangladesh.
I drafted the above-mentioned Strategy and Action Plan that was later implemented by the Ministry of Information of The People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

I was a producer, journalist, host, researcher and translator for the Latin-American Section at Radio Canada International. As part of the LATeam at RCI, I participated in the production of a daily radio show, two weekly radio shows, daily radio reports, documentaries and news bulletins. I translated materials from English and French into Spanish on a regular basis.

International Project Coordinator - Radio Voices without Frontiers Campaign
The campaign involved community radios from 22 countries and programming in 9 languages and was broadcasted via satellite from 4 regional hubs in Europe, Latin America, North America and Africa.
My main responsibilities as International Coordinator pertaining to Writing and Translation included:
Liaising among AMARC’s regional coordinators in the organization's three official languages (English, French, Spanish) and coordinating collaborations with UN agencies and other international organizations;
Coordinating programming and content development in English French and Spanish;
Assisting the Program Director with the communication strategy and the creation and translation of communication materials: electronic and printed bulletins, Website content, communiqués, etc. in English, French and Spanish.
