Residential Support Counselor
As a residential support counselor (or DSP), I work with adults with emotional and intellectual disabilities in an intensive treatment program. My primary role is to assist them and support them in their everyday
lives, including emotional and behavioral support, using DBT skills as a foundation. Other job tasks include ensuring safety and security of all clients, overseeing medical and all healthcare needs, providing transportation to an individuals job, doctors appointments, family visits, recreational activities, etc.
Other duties include: cooking meals and administering medication.
