I'm an instructional designer, elearning developer, and content writer with over 6 years of experience designing and developing learning for diverse adult audiences. My expertise lies in researching and compiling complex ideas into simplified chunks of information, but I also have a knack for adding creative flair to my learning projects. I'm skilled in curriculum development and elearning implementation and evaluation. Some say I have grit, and that's probably what makes me unique. A lifetime of learning, along with a career in corporate and academic settings working with people from around the world, helps me respond to the unique needs of today's learners. I practice ADDIE, SAM, Kirkpatrick's Four Levels of Evaluation, Action Mapping, Bloom's Taxonomy, and others. Starting with a needs analysis, I work with clients and subject matter experts to first determine what the overall goal is. Then we determine the performance gaps and if the best solution requires increasing knowledge, improving skills, changing behaviors, or a combination of the above. Perhaps, we'll find that a simple communication, such as an infographic, a job aid, or an explainer video will do. Every detail of the learning experience must be planned, even the learning environment. Imagine creating training that solves a problem, improves performance, or changes lives! Most of all, I enjoy helping others. It might be the look on a learner's face, or a comment in an end-of-course evaluation, that reveals a learner has experienced an aha moment, achieved a goal, or applied a new skill because of a relevant and engaging learning experience. This work allows me to exercise my creativity and apply my technology skills. Likewise, learning tends to be reciprocal, and I value the teachings and diversity of others.
