Madison (Madi) Murphy is a painter, illustrator, and photographer who focuses on both figurative and abstract imagery. Madi attended Maryland Institute College of Art where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in photography and a minor in art history in 2010. Along with being awarded a Presidential Scholarship and MICA Talent Grant for four years at MICA, Madi also received a Regional Gold Key, National Silver Award, American Vision Award, and Arts Teach Award of Excellence from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards in 2006. Madi has lived in Colorado, North Carolina, Maryland, and most recently Washington where she spent two years as a resident artist at the Tashiro Kaplan Artist Lofts in Seattle. She now resides in Charleston, South Carolina where she spends time creating in her studio at the Redux Contemporary Art Center. Madi was recently awarded an artist residency at Wildacres Retreat, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. She will complete the residency in April 2021.
