I love learning, language, and writing – I can think on my feet, and I pride myself in my ability to solve any problems that come my way (helped by a keen eye for detail). I am never happier than when I can work with language, be it writing, translation, research, editing, or teaching. My career goal is to work with people to make words work for people.

Freelance language practitioner
I have been working as a freelance language practitioner since 2015, and my experience of language practice entails a wide variety of texts and services for various purposes and audiences, including editing and translating advertising content, banking content, government notices and memoirs. However, I specialise in professional academic editing and translation, working on materials such as textbooks, question papers, articles, and theses and dissertations. In 2016, I began working the Centre for Translation and Professional Language Services (CTrans) at the North-West University as project manager, language practitioner and quality assurer. As a project manager, my duties entailed sending out and following up on translation and editing jobs, setting deadlines, liaising with language practitioners and clients, and quality checking the work received.
Since 2018, I have also been freelancing for Language Inc. The services involved editing financial contracts For plain language use and translating, editing, and back-translating informed consent forms for clinical studies. I also do work for international agencies like Elite Editing, Scribendi and Enago. Most recently, I have attained accreditation for editing through the Professional Editors’ Guild (PEG).
