I am passionate about conservation and sustainable tourism development and currently working as a Volunteer Coordinator at Colobus Conservation. I am also part-time working as a technical adviser for Shimba Forest Guides Association SHIFOGA.
Among the achievements held so far is the successful implementation of the Ecotourism project in which I was able to design, plan through business plan development and set up an Eco lodge and Tourist Banda facilities, and manage them. I have also established a vibrant international volunteer program and local internship program that has become a resource pool for the organization I am currently working on. I hold professional training short courses tour guiding, marketing, and customer relations from Vast Vision Consultants, Procurement Management course from Pwani University, and Small and Medium Entrepreneurship training from Strathmore Business School.
I began my experience on Ecotourism programs through volunteering with Kenya Forest Service Kwale in the establishment of the Shimba Hills Forest Guides Association in 2004: with the aim of establishing enterprise development programs as a tool for promotion of conservation among communities dwelling adjacent to the Forest resource.
My current experience involves developing clientele based packages for both international and local people who want to help on voluntary, placements, research internship, creating & managing partnerships, marketing, and promotional activities. This has enabled me to interact with a different caliber of people, understanding their needs, and setting up tailor based solutions for vast clients including consultation services.
I also served as a Project Administrator to Community Development Trust Fund Project dubbed; "Improved Community-based Natural Resource Management for Shimba hills Ecosystem Project" which was a donor-funded project by the Embassy of Denmark through the Community Development Trust Fund. It is through this that I sharpened my skills and competency in Community mobilization, Coordination, Partnership and Networking, Monitoring and evaluation, Resource mobilization, feasibility studies, and Business plan development and management.
