About
I have a strong background in Microbiology, Comparative Health Sciences and Biomedical Sciences research which provides me with an excellent foundation of knowledge that I am excited to bring to your laboratory. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in microbiology in 2015 with a minor in medical laboratory sciences. Through coursework, projects, and internships, I developed scientific skills such as microscopy, bacterial identification methods, Spectrophotometry, dilution techniques and calculations. During my undergraduate studies in Buea, Cameroon, I worked as a team member with other undergraduate students on a research project that was aimed at determining the species of Salmonella in chickens in the town of Buea; I was able to acquire teamwork skills during this project. I obtained my masters’ degree in Comparative Health Sciences in March 2021 from Oregon State University (OSU), Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine. Through research projects and coursework at OSU I have acquired skills which include performing Real-Time PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, flow cytometry, Western blot, cell culture, florescence microscopy, bacterial invasion, and survival assays. I can efficiently handle research projects involving gene expression analysis, experimental analysis of proteins, flow cytometry and florescence microscopy. I submitted a paper for publication to Journal of Immunology. Having acquired research skills during my undergraduate and graduate studies, I am confident that I can be able to learn how to use the equipment in your lab very quickly. This position represents an opportunity for me to utilize my research skills while gaining more skills and experience. I hope to hear from you soon about this opportunity.

Research Assistant
Biosafety 2 Laboratory Gained several research skills in the lab: Real-Time PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, flow cytometry, dilution techniques, western blot, cell culture, florescence microscopy; Performed Real-Time PCR with RNA isolated from Raw macrophages. Performed flow cytometry with Raw macrophages that were infected with mycobacteria, treated with cytokines, (IL-4 and IFN-γ), and then stained with mouse CD 206 conjugated and MHCII conjugated antibodies to determine the population of M1 and M2 macrophages. Worked in collaboration with laboratory colleagues to design, develop and optimize protocols for some experiments such as flow cytometry, western blot, fluorescence microscopy. Did lab meeting presentations on project status, focusing on analysis, current issues and constraints, project timeline and completion date. Also provided input and suggestions to colleagues on issues related to the work. Discussed experiments and results from previous week during the regular weekly lab meeting. Maintained a good research notebook, as well as project documentation. Submitted a paper for publication to Journal of Immunology
