The Dreamers

This illustration series won the "Bring Reading Rainbow Back" calendar contest, from the related successful Kickstarter campaign. As I approached to create an original illustration for the contest, I tried to stick as much as possible for the specifications, which were basically the same as the Reading Rainbow’s motto: “Go anywhere, be anything!” So, I’ve decided to connect the vastness of the space with the well-known environment of the ground, something familiar, very Earthly, that can tie both worlds and use the books as the media to connect them. My illustration and the one from Nidhi Chanani, were hand chosen by Mr. LeVar Burton himself among the 70 or so admitted in the contest. Despite the final result of the contest, they would have been printed anyway for the final product. The calendar features important artists, like Mary Grandpré (Harry Potter), Brett Helquist (Lemony Snickett), Penny Arcade and others.
