Writing about and for oneself is BENEFICIAL, because it can have a THERAPEUTIC EFFECT: It helps one to “blow off steam”, to discover oneself and it enables the expression of EMOTIONS.
Therapeutic writing encompasses different techniques such as automatic writing (freewriting and focuswriting), serial writing and poetry. And of course DIARY writing.
Therapeutic writing often occurs spontaneously.
