www.StevenBoyleDesign.net I am an altruistic person who took great pride in all my design projects. I strove to push the boundaries using analytical thinking and in-depth research of the client’s needs to produce a unique solution. I just wanted to design so no job was too small. My career as an art director/senior designer has been diversified – providing the creative concept, art direction and project management of a wide assortment of design projects. My areas of experience include branding, marketing, corporate brochures, annual reports, identities, websites, exhibition graphics, signage, trade books, art catalogues and magazines. From my editorial experience I am an expert at determining the editorial voice of a project and combining appropriate photography, graphics and editorial into a visual story. AREAS OF EXPERTISE ART DIRECTION: Consulted with client to conceptualize design direction, lead the project from initiation to final deliverables – briefing and updating client when expedient – and supervised all contributors in producing the deliverable for both print and digital projects. Customized the message to all cross platform initiatives keeping in mind the technological limitations of each platform. BRAND DESIGN: Strategized with client to create unique ways of visually elevate brands to stand out from the competition. Used a systems approach to solve design problem to ensure the brand message represented the company, service or product well and was applied consistently throughout all materials. Responsible for and wrote brand guideline manuals. PRINT DESIGN: Provided concept, design, layout for large budget corporate reports for major banks and catalogues to tightly budgeted collateral for non-profit organizations. Through a diversified career I have developed experience with: branding, annual reports, corporate brochures, corporate identities, marketing collateral, banners, books, magazines, newspapers, signage and exhibition graphics. I am skilled at determining what personality and written style each deliverable should take on. Responsible for all stages of production from project initiation to final pre-press files and press checks. WEB/INTERACTIVE DESIGN: Designed user interfaces, moodboards, storyboards, user scenarios, highly detailed wireframes (Balsamiq) and skinning through consideration of analytic tool ideations (personas, user scenarios, user cases) and quantitative/qualitative data. Created intuitive user experiences by suggesting features to incorporate into the design to give user options on how to use site or app through an user centric design approach. Experienced in coding HTML, CSS, producing all digital assets and customizing WordPress sites. Basic experience in jQuery and accessing jQuery libraries. CONTENT CREATOR: Recommended overall branding direction of materials based on clients brief. Wrote branding lines/slogans in consultation with client to target a specific audience. Also suggested new features or side stories to add impact and aid in editorial story telling. Thoroughly proofed manuscripts and alerted client if I felt copy did not convey an effective message. EXHIBITION GRAPHICS: Provided concept, design, layout and production of title and didactic panels for major art exhibitions. Included all or some of: hand painted type, vinyl-cut lettering, 3D lettering, silk screened type or panels, photo enlarged panels and extended labels. RESEARCH: I am an out-of-the-box thinker who gathered data on every component of the design problem. This allowed for connections between design elements that were not immediately evident to be made leading to unexpected solutions. I have attended school or worked on my own self directed projects throughout my career to learn processes or programs I feel would lead to me becoming a more accomplished designer. COMMUNICATION: Developed the trust of clients and suppliers to ensure long term relationships and clear understanding of goals and priorities. Played a key role in liaising between contributors to keep project on schedule. PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Responsible for scheduling project from concept through to completion, liaising with printer and suppliers, supervised contract /freelance staff in a client focused environment. Projects I worked on had several components that required varying production times so I often managing three to six projects on a daily basis.
