About
I am a highly qualified and experienced English language educator with extensive knowledge in English for Academic Purposes (EAP), teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL), and educational leadership. I have earned a Master of Arts in TEFL and a Bachelor of Education in TEFL from the University of Reading and the University of Alexandria, respectively, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from the University of Alexandria. My expertise in the field of language education is further supported by completion of several certified training and qualifications programs, such as the certificate in leadership in higher education and the course on educational planning and course design. I have also completed a number of courses in psychology with the School of Continuing Education, Cambridge University, UK. I have a wealth of teaching experience across various educational settings and cultures, having taught EAP, EFL, and literacy and numeracy in the UK, China, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Egypt. I have also served as a director of studies at an IdEAL English Academy in Bangkok and as a campus coordinator at the University of Sharjah in the UAE. Currently, I serve as an EAP instructor at the University of Sharjah, where I have been teaching since 2005. In addition to my teaching experience, I have worked as a language editor and translator for the office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Sharjah and as a freelance translator for the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi. I have also co-authored and served as the chief editor of several educational publications, including "21st Century Vocabulary for University" and "Reading for University," published by Express Publishing, UK. I am an active contributor to the field of language education and have presented at various conferences and seminars. Some of your recent presentations include "No Redink: Supporting Students’ Academic Writing and Grammar," "Using Edmodo as a Blended Learning Platform," and "Assisting Disabled Students in the Mainstream EFL Classroom." I have also served on several committees, including as the chair of the Sharjah Colloquium. I have a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion which is evident in your completion of the Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging course. Overall, my key skills and professional, linguistic, and intercultural abilities lie in my extensive experience and expertise in language education, my passion for learning, and my commitment to inclusivity and diversity. I am a bilingual speaker of English and Arabic and an intermediate speaker of French and Thai. During my time in China, I also learned basic Mandarin Chinese.
